FAMILY COUNSELLING

The goal of family therapy is to help everyone in the family understand and support each other and to work through difficult feelings in a safe space. It can help you and your family members understand one another better and learn coping skills to bring you closer together.

During a family therapy session, therapists may talk with the family as a group, as individuals, or as a combination but the focus is on the family structure and relationships between members, not individuals. It may not be an appropriate therapy if a family member objects to or does not want to participate in the process.

There are different types of families with different dynamics and challenges, and we can help address unhealthy or ineffective communication patterns, roles, expectations, and boundaries within them. Some families need long-term counselling to navigate past traumas and unresolved issues, others need short-term help to navigate change. Whatever your reason for seeking counselling, we look forward to supporting you.
