Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) works to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in your brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions in your body. Art can have immediate results alleviating disruptive symptoms like panic attacks and depression.
Healing using ART is possible regardless of how much you want to share with your therapist. You do not need to discuss the details of your experience if you are not ready, and you do not have to purposefully recall traumatic scenes between sessions. ART does require you to pull up an image of your experience that is related to your symptoms during a session, but you do not need to speak about it out loud. As a memory is recalled, the therapist helps you shift it to something more positive, often by using voluntary memory/image replacement during the process. Individuals are encouraged to replace the traumatic memory with a more positive one so that they may recall the details of the event(s) but no longer feel the same physical or emotional responses.
ART was created to help people who have experienced trauma but is also used to address panic attacks, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, depression, grief, vicarious trauma, burnout, and stress.
