“We are all just walking each other home.”

                                               – Ram Dass

This profound quote embodies my belief that healing is a shared journey. You already have everything you need to heal. As your therapist, my role is to walk alongside you—helping you reconnect with your innate strengths, wisdom, and resources. Together, we will unlock these qualities to create meaningful, lasting change.

Before training as a psychologist, I worked for many years in research, studying a wide range of topics, including concussions, public health, cancer, palliative medicine, and mental health—primarily psychotic illnesses. I prioritize ongoing learning, growth, and evidence-based practices in my work, ensuring that I continually seek better ways to understand and support my clients.

I specialize in helping individuals navigate complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and attachment wounds, including abandonment trauma, which can deeply impact how we relate to ourselves and others. These experiences often lead to fear and insecurity in relationships, but through our work, we will rebuild trust, safety, and connection. I also support those facing anxiety, depression, grief (including the loss of a pet), and life transitions—offering a compassionate space for healing.

Additionally, I bring personal insight into the emotional complexities of caregiving for sick or elderly loved ones. Having walked this path myself, I understand its profound emotional impact and the unique challenges it brings. I am here to help you find balance, resilience, and meaning in this important role.

In our sessions, I take a flexible and personalized approach, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Ego State Therapy, Somatic Practices, and Clinical Hypnosis (hypnotherapy). My work is informed by polyvagal theory, which explores how the nervous system influences emotions and overall well-being. As a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider, I use this specialized auditory therapy to help regulate your nervous system, which can promote calmness, strengthen resilience, and improve emotional balance.

Healing is not about fixing what’s broken; it’s about reconnecting with your inner strength to create a fulfilling, empowered life. Wherever you are on your journey, I am here to offer support, guidance, and a safe space for growth. Together, we’ll walk the path toward healing, resilience, and deeper connection.

Emily at Home

After years of living abroad I returned to Calgary to be close to the mountains. Whether it’s hiking, road biking, cross-country skiing, or snowboarding, the outdoors is where I am happiest. When I’m not outside, you’ll likely find me wherever there are babies or animals to snuggle. I’ve been known to cross the street just to say “hi” to a dog—if I’m running late, that’s probably why!

In 2024, I welcomed my first two nieces into the world, and while I’m not yet a parent myself, I can’t imagine a stronger love. Being an aunt is the only role I love more than being a therapist.

At home, I’ve cultivated a “mostly thriving” mini jungle. The only thing there are more of than plants in my home is my ever-growing collection of books. I find joy in cooking—savoring the process almost as much as the meal itself. A lover of all genres of music it is equally likely that I am singing loudly (off-key) to my favorite country song or dramatically conducting an orchestra from my kitchen.
